About the European Central Bank

The European Central Bank (ECB) is headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, and has over 3,500 employees from a variety of professional backgrounds, including economics, finance, and law. They works closely with all 19 member countries in the Eurozone and their national central banks, which collectively represent a population of over 340 million people. The main responsibility of the ECB is conducting monetary policy, maintaining price stability, and ensuring the stability of the financial system in the euro area.

IT innovation at the ECB

Over the past decade, the ECB has been at the forefront of innovation in the financial industry. They have been keeping up with the latest technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations, with a focus on scaleability and improved speed of delivery. The ECB has invested heavily in technology and innovation, and has also been exploring emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI) and LowCode platforms like Mendix to improve its operations.

Overall, the ECB's focus on innovation and technology has helped it to stay ahead of the curve in the ever-evolving financial industry. And doing so has enabled it to better serve its 19 member countries and associated national banks supporting the economic growth of the euro area.

Applying LowCode best practices at the ECB

When the ECB partnered with low-code development platform Mendix to build a number of internal applications, they consulted experts from Blue Green Solutions to help them with exploring and implementing low-code best practices for its projects. The ECB has also stated that it is committed to exploring and utilizing new technologies, such as low-code development, to improve its operations and enhance its ability to fulfill its mandate. By using low-code development tools, the ECB can build applications faster and more efficiently, which allows it to respond more quickly to changing business needs and market conditions.

In cooperation with Siemens, our Mendix Experts implemented a highly scalable Mendix AppFactory environment at European Central Bank. Managers from both the ECB (Michael Fedesin) and Siemens (Julian Dreyer) shared their experiences with the AppFactory concept and how it helps to accelerate IT innovation in the video above.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
